How Running in Marathons Has Changed My Life

I started running 26 years ago and haven't stopped since. I quickly adapted to the marathon distance and thought 26.2 miles was as extreme as it gets. Just shy of 2 years and 12 marathons later, a friend introduced me to trail running. This was a perfect way to join together my joy of distance running and my love for the mountains and outdoors. With distances beyond the marathon, there was a whole new world out there to be discovered. Immersing myself in the sport of marathon ultrarunning for the last 24 years, training, learning, absorbing and perfecting all I could along the way. Ultrarunning has changed my life in such a positive way. The people are truly what makes this sport great. I have met and become lifelong friends with so many ultrarunners along the way and continue to do so today. My passion for ultrarunning has not changed since the day I was introduced.
